The Coptic manuscripts, the Coptic literature, and digital methods for their preservation and study

The aim of this presentation was to explain the significance of the enterprise CMCL in the frame of the study of the Coptic literary tradition, and especially of its manuscripts. The presentation will deal mainly with two aspects: 1) The peculiarities of the Coptic manuscript tradition and heritage, with respect to their provenance (non-orthodox circles, monastic organizations) and their dispersal in modern times. 2) The use of computational instruments and methods for the digital preservation, study (analysis), and dissemination of the manuscripts and every kind of information concerning the manuscripts and the works that they preserve.
